On this program, we review the most relevant songs written by one of the top Tango lyricists of all time: Enrique Santos Discepolo (1901-1951), creator of anthems such as "Uno", "Malevaje", "Cambalache", and many others.
We also explain some of the key concepts in Tango mythology that Discepolo expressed so clearly in his tunes: the idealization of the past, the value of friendship, the grim outlook of the world and its future, the misfortunes of love, the wisdom of cafés characters, etcetera.
We play renditions of Discepolo's songs by the likes of Carlos Gardel, Julio Sosa, Adriana Varela, Roberto Goyeneche, among other singers.
