In Colombia, a court ratified the arrest of Nicolás Petro Burgos, the son of President Gustavo Petro.
He was arrested last Friday, accused of alleged money laundering.
The young man's mother, Daysuris Vázquez, the Colombian president's ex-wife, was arrested for the same reason.
A court in capital Bogotá formalized the arrest of both suspects on Sunday.
Prosecutors are expected to charge them this week with money laundering and illicit enrichment, according to judicial sources.
The case was sparked by an interview in which Vázquez revealed that his son kept for himself contributions to Petro's presidential campaign.
According to the same account, some of the money even came from drug trafficking groups.
For his part, Mr Petro posted on Twitter: "As a person and a father, it hurts me very much to see so much self-destruction and that one of my sons is going to jail".
And he added: "As President, I assure you that the Prosecutor's Office will have all the guarantees on my side to proceed according to the law".
