Ageing and migration key factors RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Argentina's population has grown moderately, census show

Argentina's population growth is "positive and moderate", despite a decrease in the birth rate, demographic experts told state agency Télam, based on the provisional results of the 2022 National Census.

According to them, the preliminary figure of the total population of 47,327,407 people is explained by the number of migrants who arrived in the country and the population of older adults.

Leandro González, PhD in demography and researcher said this moderate growth is typical "of Argentina's long term trend... it is a positive thing in the sense that it allows extending the aging process".

The preliminary data from last May 18 census showed an 18-percent increase in the number of inhabitants compared to the previous survey, conducted in 2010.

Of the total current population, 47.05 percent are men and 52.83 percent are women. Meanwhile, 0.12 percent were not assigned to either of these two sexes.
