"We will work in leasing law”. President Cristina Fernández asserted the draft bill aims at benefiting farmers. “At the Agriculture Ministry we will work on a leasing law that watches over the interests of those who work the land” the Head of State asserted at a ceremony to mark the 145th anniversary of the foundation of Chacabuco, a city in the province of Buenos Aires. When addressing a group of farmers, she affirmed “it is about time that those who work and invest in Argentina rather than those who sit and wait for a return, get the share they deserve”. In that context, she highlighted again the May Revolution Bicentennial could be celebrated “with a public debt that gets smaller and smaller”. She recalled that some days ago, the Federal Government repaid 2.3 billion in Boden 2012 bonds, which originated during the 2001-2002 crisis, when the banking deposits freeze was introduced. Ms Fernandez asserted dairy producers have never made so much money, and also stressed the evolution of the prices of soybean, soy oil and cattle. Moreover, she said that, as from July 5, when the blend percentage in biofuels was raised to 7%, soybean price went up by 58 dollars/ton, while soy oil had a hike of 108 dollars/ton”. The President explained that while this year’s obligations were cancelled using Central Bank’s reserves, next year, the “corralito” public bonds will also be cancelled. In Chacabuco, during the inauguration of the 37th Corn Fair, she asserted that this year “a 4.4 billion debt was paid” with the same reserves that almost triggered an impeachment process against me”. Those reserves, she added, are expected to reach 50 billion dollars during the current year.
