“Support to the Argentine claim of the Malvinas sovereignty is just a question of principles”, said Almagro

Uruguayan Foreign Minister, Luis Almagro, highlighted that his country’s support of the case falls into an idea of integration, respect and solidarity.

He added it is a question of values and principles supported on legal rights.

This way, the Uruguayan foreign Minister ratified his country’s decision to ban ships flying the Malvinas flag from entering the Uruguayan ports.

Last December 20, Mercosur country members approved a joint declaration on the issue.

Moreover, Almagro highlighted the bilateral trade relationship and said that in 2011, his country registered a 17% growth of exports to Argentina, 50% of which bear some technological value.
