The Uruguayan government ratified the country’s support of the Malvinas issue.
An official press release issued by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, also published in the official WEB page stressed that the country has not changed its stance.
"Continental solidarity based on historic and cultural brotherhood bonds is one of the basic principles that rule Uruguayan foreign policy, read the communique signed by Minister Luis Almagro.
The text adds that Uruguay considers the Malvinas Islands an English colonial possession in Latin America and therefore, it can not recognize its flag.
He also voiced his country position is shared by the rest of Latin America.
