Cristina Fernández took over Mercosur pro-tempore presidency

 

The Head of State affirmed the Southern bloc must work hard against corporations and in favor of the peoples and celebrated Venezuela and Ecuador’s intention to enter the regional bloc.

 

Cristina Fernández took over Mercosur pro tempore presidency for the next 6-month period during the Head of States Summit held in Montevideo, Uruguay.

 

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner recalled her first pro-tempore presidency and pondered that although we talk of economy, everything depends on politics and on government’s will to do things well.

 

She also mentioned the hard conflicts solved such as those in Bolivia, Colombia and Venezuela.

 

She also mentioned the 2009 global economic crisis and the task asumed by former presidents Nestor Kirchner from Argentina and Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva from Brazil to liven up  Mercosur during the realm of neo liberalism.

 

She said South America needs solutions to problems and productivity is the answer. She added that it is necessary to go beyond trade and support the nations with regionalism to be able to protect them.
