When attending a ceremony at the Upper Chamber, during which the chamber received the replica of the “Macha Flag” the symbol of the first hoisted flag by Manuel Belgrano, at the Banks of the Parana river in 1812 Timerman highlighted that Latin American countries are committed with the defense of sovereignty.

Regarding the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands, the Minister recalled that “of all the colonial conflicts at the time of the UN creation, there are still 16, 10 out of which have some relation with the UK and none with Argentina".
