“Almost half the Argentine population have already gained access to Internet”, said the President.
Yesterday, in government house, President Cristina Fernández launched the website INFOJUS, on Legal Information, and said that in 2001 only 30% of the population could work with Internet while today the percentage rose to 47%.
The head of State said that the new website is a complement to the previous one known as “Digesto” and that this integral free site will allow people to consult “on-line” about any national or provincial law, legal sentence, or any other resolution.
She praised the public aspect of the new system and added that by year-end there will be PC terminals at all Law Schools and Lawyer Associations of the country.
She held that this legal system will benefit over half a million people who will use it on a daily basis while the whole society will also be able to have access to it and she recalled that “important leaps” have been given by the government.
Finally Cristina Fernández assured that "over 1.200 million netbooks have been already handed over to students and schools”.
Therefore, the number of households with access to Internet will be higher than it was, thus taking Argentina to a privileged place.
