Argentine serious and consistent Foreign Policy Remarked

Amado Boudou said the Argentine quality can be seen through the Latin American support of the Malvinas issue, mainly after the shocking comments made by UK Prime Minister  David Cameron.

Boudou recalled the government decision to work on legal questions so as to finally sit down at  the negotiation table with the UK to discuss the Malvinas soverignty as suggested by the UN

Moreover, the Defense Minister,  Arturo Puricelli, held that the British destroyer that sailed to the Malvinas islands meant an innecesary demostration of power by the UK.

The Minister insisted on depriving the Brish attitude from all warlike intention. And he added that the UK intends militarizing the islands although “from the south cone we say we do not want any contamination whatsoever in the area”.

Argentine Ambassador to Chile,  Ginés González García, said that the British Prime Minister is repeating  Margaret Thatcher's deeds regarding the conflict with Argentina over the Malvinas sovereignty back in 1982.

The diplomat mentioned the “record unemployment and the economic adjustment” in England among other causes that took London to stiffen their position regarding the sovereignty question on the Islands.

He also said that Argentina  did not request the Chilean flights to Malvinas to be discontinued or banned from Punta Arenas to Malvinas.

The Head of the Industrial Federation in San Pablo, Paulo Skaf, considered the meeting “constructive”.

Economy Minister, Hernán Lorenzino, and  Industry Minister, Debora Giorgi, met the Brazilian businessmen to analyze the trade relationships between both countries.

During the meeting they evaluated the new imports regime enforced by Argentina and the search of alternatives to increase Argentine sales.

Upper Chamber repudiation of David Cameron's statements.

The senate together with Foreign Minister, Hecotr Timerman issued a document that repudiates the British Prime Minister's statements which will be discussed in Congress next March. .

He also remarked the illegal exploitation of natural resources on the islands and the South Atlantic archipelago and accused the UK for benefitting from the renewable and non renewable natural resources extracted from the occupied territory. He also warned about the shipment of the products which may imply a “severe environmental risk”.

The draft of the “Declaration” approved by the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Upper Chamber, expresses “the strongest repudiation of the Prime Minister'statements for having referred to the Argentine claim over the malvinas islands as “colonialist” and it also condemns the “exploration and Exploitation” of renewable and non renewable natural resources in the territory of Malvinas, Sandwichs, Georgias and their surrounding sea area.

Further on, The Senate thanks the governments of  Uruguay, Chile & Brasil for their commitment with the case expressed by their banning on ships “identified by the illegal flag of Malvinas” from entering their ports.

Finally, it urges the UK to comply with UN resolutions adopted by the General Assembly to reach a pacific solution over the Malvinas sovereignty dispute.

“Cameron’s statements are nonsense”

Senator, Anibal Fernandez affirmed that the British Prime minister has proved to be “ignorant” and “lack all diplomatic behavior”.

He added that the “UK was unable to fulfill UN resolutions that established the negotiation of the Malvinas issue”.

He insisted “it is all a lack of respect” but “it will not prevent us from continuing on the same trend and denounce them at every international forum and meeting”.

Finally, he said that all Latin America has had gestures of support toward our country and that both MERCOSUR and UNASUR are permanently trying to find global solutions to continental problems.

Fernandez’ statements answered Cameron’s about a colonialist attitude of our country for claiming the Malvinas sovereignty and said he summoned his country’s Security Council to defend the islands free decision sovereignty right.

"Cameron shamelessly uses the word “colonialism” in reference to a Latin American country.

While heading the ceremony in which different agreements were signed to hold the First Industrial Exhibit in the city of Mar del Plata, acting president, Amado Boudou, assured that the Argentine government honors the word “democracy”.

He said that colonialism “is a word that has caused so much damage and pain, not only in Latin America, but also in Asia and Africa. It’s a word that still nowadays carries the unmistakable face of exclusion, of semi-colonial democracies that have been held in many countries for centuries.”

. Boudou added that the Argentine government accepts the challenges posed by history and honors the word “democracy.".

"“The only way for England to get out of this mess is through direct negotiations with Argentina” said Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman

He, earlier assured that Argentina’s strategy on the sovereignty claim “is working” and added that “not even English newspapers are supporting Cameron,” Timerman said on a radio interview, explaining that “the only way for England to get out of this mess is through direct negotiations with Argentina.”

“This proves that the Argentine strategy is working out. We’ve gathered much regional support and commitment from international organizations,” the minister said from El Salvador, one of the Central American countries that are part of his current tour.

“I have no doubt that Argentina is looking for a civilized and peaceful solution through negotiations,” he stated and assured that the local Government “will not reply to any of Cameron’s military-toned affronts.”

Timerman cited English newspapers as proof of Cameron’s lack of support.

“Not even the conservative ‘The Times’ supports Cameron. They say he is heading the wrong strategy and that what he’s doing is unreal,” he explained.

He closed by once again ratifying that Argentina “believes in the peaceful resolution of conflicts” and urged the United Kingdom to “pick up the phone and give (UN Secretary General) Ban Kim Moon a call” who every year urges both nations to sit down and negotiate.

His statements were made in response to the news that British intelligent services had warned Prime Minister David Cameron that Argentina was planning an alleged “phony fishermen’s invasion” to the islands on the 30th anniversary of the Malvinas War.

Boudou added that there are still vestiges of past colonialism in Africa, Asia, America".

Everybody knows how the United Kingdom acted with colonialism. The cross fire did not end there, as Timerman also remarked that “instead of calling the National Security Committee, Great Britain should call UN’s Secretary General Ban ki Moon and respond positively to all resolutions issued by the UN calling Britain to open the dialogue with Argentina in order to find a pacific solution to Argentina's claims of sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands.”

Likewise, the minister said that “The accusations made are hard to understand when it is Argentina the victim of British colonialism as the United Nations has said.”

Furthermore, Timerman remarked that “we live in a world where only colonialism vestiges can be found, but it seems that as far as the British empire is in full decline, they have now decided to re-write history.”
