SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Argentine students will travel to the U.S. to train astronauts

A group of 50 Argentine high school students were selected to travel to the United States on September 22 and participate in a space camp, where they will experience astronaut training.

Through simulators with gravity chairs and neutral flotation, the young people will design and launch a rocket, build a heat shield, among many other learning tasks, within the framework of the Advanced Space Academy program.

The initiative is part of a scholarship awarded by the U.S. Embassy to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, which was held on July 20.

The students will travel from September 22-27 and will be at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, as "an opportunity to foster university and professional careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)," the Embassy said in a statement.

As for the selection process were chosen young people from 17 provinces of Argentina, and favored those who could not have the opportunity to know the United States.
