Argentine volunteer tells her experience RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Anti-Covid 19 vaccine test enters phase III

Argentina was selected to be part of stage-3 trials for the vaccine developed by BioNTech and Pfizer.

In Argentina, around 10 thousand people, between 18 and 85 years old, are taking part in the trial, that is coordinated by doctor Fernando Polack. Volunteers were chosen from a total of 20 thousand people who signed up to participate in the tests.

Fanny Santillan is one of those volunteers. She is 51 years old, teaches Mathematics and lives in the province of Buenos Aires.

Ms. Santillan believes it is "extremely important" that Argentina is among the handful of countries selected to conduct these trials. And she highlighted the importance of volunteering to test the vaccine with their own bodies, and put themselves at the service of a greater good, such as finding a way to stop the coronavirus pandemic that is currently sweeping the world.

Tests could go on for up to two years until the compound is cleared for mass production. The project is being carried out from the Military Hospital of Buenos Aires City.
